An important update to Installer Creator has now been uploaded as v2.7.

This fixes a major bug for those creating the Universal Installer packages where a shortcut 'parameter' has been used. During the process I also improved other shortcut management issues.

Hopefully those that have a 'parameter' set in the *.inst files can now just re-save those shortcut ID numbers. You should get prompted if there is an issue when saving. Up-to-date I have not heard from anyone about this issue, so either no-one is using the parameter feature, or they've kept quiet.

So, how's it going with that game? I've had an idea that I've been taking notes on for quite a while but haven't written any code yet. I like the text based rpg's/muds and I wanted to create something like that and make it interesting but expandable. Things like adding weather, options to travel off the normal routes, quests that change based on characteristics of the player, NPCs that interact differently with different players. It is just fun to think of things I'd like to add but I should start with the basics for a map and movement. I am just trying to think of some things ahead of time so including them later won't be as big a problem to work in.

I really need to work on my programming as far as being more structured to keep things clearer.

Anyway, do you have any screen shots of yours?

Sorry to take so long getting back to you ... haven't been on the web the last few days ... Xmas and all ... you know how it is!

I've been thinking of providing some shots and maybe a basic download of what I've done to date. It got nipped in the bud though, because I came up with a program idea to simplify and speed up creating my world map (i.e. game board), but which mean't major changes ... since then I've been distracted by many things ... including other programs (ideas, creation and updates).

I may still provide what I've done though (if only as an example)?

I also have a huge backlog of updates to many of my provided programs. Some have gone through lots of version changes, and I even have several entirely new programs I want to make available here. Time is always an issue of late for me and most times I just come to the Forum now to relax and catch up. I actually burn't myself out - I was doing so much.

Uploading programs and updates and providing the documentation is a bit of a chore right now ... but maybe after Xmas I'll have a new burst of energy & time.

As part of the new game approach, I'm also considering working with others or gauging interest to do so ... as there is a lot to do and very time consuming with repetitive stuff ... which I always try to program myself an easier way to do.

STAY TUNED!

SetAs Wallpaper has been updated from v4.1 to v4.3. This update includes the ability to now just use a Windows DLL if you are only using bitmaps. Jpegs still require Irfan View (great free 3rd party program) to be installed. A few improvements or bugfixes have been implemented, plus the ability to change the wallpaper every 2nd, 3rd or 4th day ... this is in addition to all the other choices. I have also added a NEXT button, so that you can quickly change manually to the next wallpaper in the list (and apply settings). I think I forgot to mention in previous post/s, that the program caters for multiple users.

As always, see the first post in this topic for the download, in section - 3. Utilities.
