I drew inspiration from a similar Script/Program Creator made, for designing a Portable version of the SciTE4AutoIt3 bundled with the AutoIt3 package.

Note: The problem with the previous Script/Program was it wasn't 100% Portable, it left files in the %APPDATA% folder, which was due to the session save feature of SciTe. So I modified the Script/Program and added parameters to check if SciTe was running and if the appropriate configuration files existed.

It does mean that if the program crashes it won't recover and it doesn't automatically save any sessions

Are you sure that SciTE can recover last files automatically?

I had a look here - http://www.scintilla.org/SciTEDoc.html and I was wrong ;) But I found info about SciTE_HOME so this might answer my question in the previous post.

Hi guinness,
I've got a copy of an installed autoit in the app directory for the portable. Now my question is, what do I have to do to execute your script correctly?

I mean, do I have to put it in the same directory as autoit3.exe, scite.exe or where?
And, do I have to run it each time I want to execute the portable or just the fist time to modify configuration files?

Place the compiled EXE made using the Script outside of the "App" Folder >>

and then simply Execute. Make sure you have the SciTE4AutoIt3 installed in the "Scite" Folder too.

Sorry, it isn't working perfectly.

au3check and autoit3.exe are ok, good!

But obfuscator is executed from Program Files, and autocompletion is not working. :)

Besides, is it suppose to write its configuration to Data folder?
It doesn't write anything, and when I open again the portable Scite is always maximized and doesn´t open the scripts I was editing in the last session.

Ah, and yes, I use the full Scite.

The Data Folder is for my own use, sorry should have mentioned that. The data is written to au3.properties & SciTEGlobal.properties.

Yes, the official one.
In fact I've got two versions (3.3.0 and 3.3.6), both copied from an installed version, and they have the same problems.
The installed version that remains in my system is 3.3.0, and I want the portable to be 3.3.6.1

Excuse me about the configuration writing, I didn't realize the default was NOT to write it. I've changed the execution call to _AU3(-1,-1,1) and now it is storing the session perfectly. :)

Hum, It isn't working for me...

Ah, running with the default _AU3() is ok but if I change it to _AU3(-1,-1,1) (in order to save the session) it doesn't work.
It was ok in v2.

Edit:
Forcing the parameters, i.e. _AU3(@ScriptDir, "App", 1) it's working again.

But the problems with obfuscator and autocompletion remain...

I removed the use of -1 etc... to reduce code so now you will have to use_AU3(@ScriptDir, "App", 1). Use V3 because its quicker and I will have a look at trying to solve the problems with Obfuscator.

By the way, in au3.properties you should also add /autoit3dir "$(autoit3dir)" to lines executing AU3Check through AutoIt3Wrapper, so that it doesn't use the one in Program Files.
(In the original file this means lines 86 and 93)

I don't use it to be honest and I presumed it didn't work full stop.

Weird, because I don't have AutoIt installed and AU3Check still works.

Also Obfuscator works for me too.

I found that if you have AutoIt3 installed on the machine, AutoIt3Wrapper will try and execute Tidy and Obfuscator from the local drive. If you don't have it installed, that's the only time it will look for it in where ever the SciTE folder is located. I had tried renaming the local copy of the AutoIt folder but until I actually moved it out of the Program Files folder Windows kept updating the registry keys for the various programs and I had the same issue.

So, if you're going to use this on a computer that has AutoIt installed on it, you will either have to deal with this "problem", move the AutoIt3 folder, re-write the AutoIt3Wrapper script, or change the registry keys when you run the portable au3 and then change them back when you're done.

Your script works very well. I've been using SciTe from a thumbdrive for a while now because I try not to install too much extra stuff on my work computer. It hasn't worked as well as I had wanted but with this script it made it a lot easier to work with. My main problem was the .properties files getting put into the username folder rather than having it on the thumb drive so they would move with the drive, now they do.

It seems that in order to make a real portable AutoIt, it should be necessary to change the wrapper itself so that programs are looked for in a different order :)
a) autoit3dir wrapper parameter
b ) register or Program Files
c) Current Scite dir

In that way using autoit3dir parameter in Scite when invoking the wrapper we could build a full portable version.

I think it would not be very difficult for developers to manage obfuscator, tidy and others in the same way they do with the interpreter or the checker (using autoit3dir parameter when present, before looking in Program Files or the register).

I appreciate guinness work and I'm sure it works perfectly when there's no installed AutoIt in the system (or at least it's the same version that the portable one). It's just I can't take profit of this in my particular configuration, it's a pity :) :P

By the way, as I imagine you have noticed, English is not my native language. Excuse my ignorance, but.... what's the meaning of "OP" in "I will add to the OP of the warning"?
