In the serie of handy Tiny tools, here is RegJumper !

Open Registry Editor to the Reg Key who is copied in the clipboard.

Reg Keys are automatically added to Regedit favorites.
For an easy "navigation" favorites names are Reg Keys.
If Key doesnt exists RegJumper offers you to open his ( existing ) parent Key.

32 or 64 bits Reg Keys will be adapted to your OS env.
Favorites are limited to 20, deleting the oldest Keys.

Without Reg Key in clipboard it open Registry Editor as usual to the last opened Key
but if you hold "Left SHIFT" Key when clicking, it will be open to the root.

Only an Icon used for compilation is downloaded in C:Windows dir at first execution.

I was a bit tired of clicking -_- in the registry editor for access a key.
One day i have found a vbs script who use the fact to delete the last opened reg key for open it to the root.
Playing with this astuce and after some tries for add some functionnalities, i have made this tiny tool. :thumbsup:

Edit: wakillon, you're missing a couple of includes, I will add to my version now.
Edit: I copy the registry key e.g. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.mpg and then run the compiled application, but it doesn't navigate to that key. I'm using Windows 7 x64.

Which includes are missing ?

As it change keys in the registry may be you need to use run as administrator ?

Is there 2 types of reg key in x64 : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE64 ?

No there aren't, I just tested in Windows XP SP3 and it works, so I will have a look in the next couple of days to figure out the problem.

Yes it work, String.au3 is already include and no need to WindowsConstants.au3

I will try it on x64 if i find one... :graduated:

I'm using the beta and $WM_SYSCOMMAND isn't included unless I add WindowsConstants.au3.

WindowsConstants.au3 was pre-include in APIConstants.au3 who was pre-include in WinAPIEx.au3
but not in the last version !

So you can add

Global Const $WM_SYSCOMMAND = 0x0112

Have a look at this >> http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/topic/...-regjump/page__view__findpost_ and I don't like that the icon is moved to the C:\Windows directory, I changed it but is there a reason you install it there?

Have a look at this >> http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/topic/...-regjump/page__view__findpost_ and I don't like that the icon is downloaded and moved to the C:\Windows directory, I thefore changed this to @ScriptDir.


I already see it, but mine have more fonctionnalities and can close child Regedit windows more quickly with SendMessage than WinClose.
I set icon path in c:\windows because i don't find a way to set an "environement variable" to the path to #AutoIt3Wrapper_icon=
I found this was more simple... :graduated:

#AutoIt3Wrapper_icon=Icon.ico will look in the @ScriptDir.

Using ProcessClose() instead of WinClose() is not a good idea. You abnormally terminates the process. This can lead to bad old results, especially in the registry.

I use _SendMessage() instead of WinClose() for close windows.
ProcessClose() is just use if it take too long time to close the windows.
That's why i put a Sleep() before it.
you can verify that in most of cases process doesn't exists at this momment. :graduated:

I have found solution for x64 bit OS :

No need to add 64 to the headers of reg key.

Script tested on Seven 64 bit and Updated ! :graduated:
