Autoseek Posted October 31, 2014 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Hi, I need to extract dates from a file, where the dates can be formatted in several different ways, including "month first" and "day first" (probably not "year first"). The dates are "randomly" spread out anc contained in blocks of text. I will have indicators in the file as to which formats would actually be most likely, but I will need to be prepared to identify, e.g., 30 April 2014, as well as 30. April 2014, April 30, 2014, 30.04.2014, 30.4.2014, 04/30/14 etc. I think I will be able to do this with a lot of trial-and-error, but I am sure that somebody more proficient than I has already done this. Anyway you're going to have terrible hard time differentiating dd/mm/yyyy and mm/dd/yyyy for dd < 13. This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available).
