New project alpha preview

I have been working on a wild new project a day or two ( a lot actually ) and now I have the first working alpha model up and running - Au3ComDialog editer...

The application can scan your computer and snap out all installed activeX objects with all parametre ready, no more tapping long documents...

The application has a Toolbox window:

Where all the com objects are ready scanned and a nice small icon shown and users can group different objects into pages as one pleases, I have only done one object page in the example graphic but one could group the objects into common dialogs, media control and system related etc.

A Form window:

The form window works like any other Designers as a rubberband size / locate model just insert the toolbox selected object and 'vola' one has a media player up and running with all parametres right at your fingertips control - there is a design and preview mode attached to see if this particulare object actually works...

a Property editer:

Works like any other designer like the Formdesigner property window and here the application is real smart as it do 'snap' out all available parametres from a given object ( if posible but mostly it is ) all ready to make some changes...

The application has a mother library of objects related and here one has to edit it to match all the different objects used as there is a lot of different objects around and the application can't spot out what object one uses - example: there are a lot of shockwave com objects around and most computers has more than one available and it's not posible jet to snap out what particulare object to point to ( what ID and revision etc. ) but maybe I work this one out some day...

There is a drawback to all this glory - Au3ComDialog use some activex objects that is not freeware and as that not freely distibuteable ( a lot actually ) but the libraries are all attached to MSOffice and also included with Visual Basic packet so many of you autoitters do have these all ready on the computer...

I think that the first released beta version will be in a week or two - including options as to generate au3 scripts with all the activex power embedded, reload scripts to do a rewire, testing scripts directly ( hopefully without to manny crashes ) and I will try to write the appliaction to support user defined macros as well and what do I know - give me some responce / suggestions and I'll think about it...

Note: I change my 2mbit adsl connection to a 24mbit connection the 15.11 and all my addresses etc. has to be changed, therefore I'm properly not available to contact or even on the line ( hopefully only a day or two ) not like SvenP - don't worry...

  • 4 weeks later...

Well flowers do not grow on Mars I suppose and neigher do components - the application looks like Microsoft access was preatty close, as some of the components I was working with was the library FM20.dll but after I had it all ready and tried some more speculare components like quicktime - bang a crash and my investigation was correct, components related to Microsoft Office is buggy or solo made to be embedded into MS forms and some of the other and nice ones like quicktime WAS absolute not - The benefit of having all wrapped into forms is that it's fair easy to read all parametre out and let the forms do the event talking but that could just not be done without missbehave from some components...

I'm now doing a rewrite to avoide forms to do the control BUT this is hard one as I have to make all preferences, events and settings by me self but some progress is made and I have some idears on how...

I want the application to be able to handle some MS forms, all the common medie related and most of the non intuition types - the layout is almost the same with a toolbox and a formwindow but I have to snapout what components is available on the particulare computer and the components actually properties available from Inet GUIDE pages...

Well winter is over the land and holliday comming fast - I think that this will improve progress...
