GUI Designer: Koda 1.7.3.0

So, even though its hasn't been updated since 2010 ("1.7.3.0 build 252"), Koda is still what people use to write a GUI in AutotIT if they don't want to write it all from scratch?

I guess you could use it as a prototyping tool and then just base your designs off of that. I find it easier just to learn how to do it. How hard can it be to come up with a user interface?

 

The back end of the application is the meat and potatoes. The gui is just window dressing.

 

I will say in my experience as a developer I’ve seen tons of horrible graphical user interfaces

Seriously, what has halted this program (KODA) from been updated?
It's my go to for created tiny to large GUIs.

As has been stated several times throughout this thread, the original developer for this UDF (LazyCat) has moved on to other projects. There are also links throughout this thread indicating alternatives.

Since one person has departed, and the code is open source, why hasnt anyone else taken over and continued the project instead of starting from scratch? The program operates better than its alternatives, so it's difficult to understand why nobody has stepped forward to revive it after all these years.

It's just sad to see such an excellent program be left in the dark thats all.

Okay well then that would explain why no one can actually update this program.

Hello,

Searching with "koda run form" returned no hits.

It used to work, but now, for some reason, when I hit Tools > Run Form (or F10), Koda doesn't actually run the code like it used to; Instead, it switches to SciTE and copies the generated code into a new "test.au3" file/tab.

Did I make a (wrong) change in AutoIt somewhere?

As far as I know this way it worked all the time (at least for me).

You can look at Options/General/Form run method

I have "Associated" there, maybe try reassociate it. ...

It used to… run the form in Koda, as a way to check that the GUI worked OK before copy and pasting the code into SciTE.

It wasn't associated, but clicking on "Set" and restarting Koda doesn't solve the problem 😕

Then I guess you have change the Open for AU3 files from Run to Edit?
Check the default settings in SciTE, start au3Config, select Other tools, run AutoIt3/SciTE check.
The will generate a report of your current installation and setting for au3 in the registry.

After running Tools > ScITE Config, in the General 1 tab, I changed "Choose default" from Edit to Run, ran Koda without restarting SciTE: Fixed!
