Ok I know the majority of people will not agree with me on this, but I know for a fact there are a few who will, so I'll go ahead and say it.

Some people want to spread the word about the bots, the codes going around, and the working versions and whatnot. Others who have coded their own, or been able to get one working don't want the bots to spread into the mainstream. Right now it's kinda like the beginning days of Napster. Only a small portion of people knew about it, and it wasn't a huge problem. Then once people started to catch on it spread like wildfire and soon became a threat to the music industry.. anyways, back to my point.

I don't think we should aim to make the working bots easily accessible by the mainstream. I think we should trade snips of code, and tips and stuff to edit our own scripts, but I don't think we should be giving the program to people who don't know the first thing about coding. Right now it's sort of in a stage where you do have to know how to program a TINY bit to get it working. That alone scares most of the casual gamers away from trying to get a bot to work for them. But once it becomes as easy as downloading and running the program for them, everyone will have it, and SE will find some way to spoil it.

Call me greedy, I want all the moat carp! But hey.. I know there's other people who agree with me. Let the flaming begin.

I totally agree. I think we should protect what we have and not let it spread or they will be worthless in no time.

I agree with this, I actually was gonna remove all code i wrote yesterday morning, then i saw people sayin that my script didn't work and it made me feel the need to prove myself. Apparently i made it too complicated to set up anyways so like noone can use it but me heh so not much threat there. However, if enough people post in this thread, that they want these kept private, I will leave it up for 1 day, and remove it after that (small amount of people get it therefore controlling this situation). So, if enough support is shown to remove, I have no prob doing that. I just felt obligated cause people basically said what i wrote is garbage, which i guess it might be to someone who can't take the time to look at something and understand what it's doing by looking at it. Some parts of it may not be done in the most efficient manner, but i just taught myself how to do this like 2 days ago, and i think that is pretty damn good.

it's too late. everyones scripts have even appears on www.ffxi-secrets.com PAY forum with access to a mass of people. this site is actually making people pay for access to information along with the scripts that are posted here. how do I know? i'm a member.

the best thing we can do is keep the scripts private, advanced them, and stop posting them here.

THIS site is on the #1 page when searching google for: fishing bot ffxi

we should close this section of the board. that's just my take. the japanese have been quiet about their version. i still have yet to find a site that talks about their bot in a forum so openly.

and these noobs... omg. they want everything done for themselves.. it doesn't take logn to learn this language at all. but they won't even go through the help file and learn it. those types of newbs deserve to get shafted and not given any secrets

I wish it wasn't - it's a right bandwidth drain.

For the last 15 days search engines have been banned (they only see the announcements forum) and it still is up there.

Just found a way to request Google removes the site - no offence guys but I'm going to do that to reduce the number of hits I get.

I agree with some of your points.

1.) Your greed I don't agree with. Your reasons are just wrong.

2.) I do agree that once a WHOLE lot of people get their hands on it, SE will bust it all up. However, it's not like Napster exactly. With napster, a LOT of people were interested in Music, and things spread by word of mouth. Fishing scripts are a lot different. A.) Not as many people play FFXI as people who used Napster b.) Not as many people feel it's morally correct to let a script do your work for you c.) Not as many people CARE about fishing and d.) Scripts are not nearly as user-friendly as Napster was.

True, if things get out of hand, then yes, it will become a problem and I agree with your snips of code idea (since it's not that difficult to put together if you take the time and effort to LEARN).

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents

I've been a little worried myself as well.

Maybe we should just remove all the code and setup a private IRC chat somewhere that we can all discuss the code and work things out privately.

If someone wants to set this up and give out the irc information via PM, once I verify that I can access it, I'll remove my code as well.

I AGREE. Please remove all the code and ask support questions through private messages. The fishing market is going to be ruined because of this.

BTW, has anyone noticed less fish being caught in the last few days? Has Square adjusted the fishing algorithms to combat botters?

I wouldn't be surprised, but then again japanese players have been using bots since the game existed. hmm

:P doesn't matter much to most japanese people.. they have lu shang rods so if moats stop selling they can always just catch "bluetail" sells for like 600 gil each to fish shop but can only fished out with a lu shang rod or you'll loose most of them because of lack of size... thats what i see a bunch of japanese people doing in east sarb in windurst. just botting off the shore into the sea catching blue tails and other fish worth 300-600 and occasionally a bream worth 4k... i say focus on getting a
lu shang rod now and then the fishing market could be saved ;). you won't need moats anymore.. after you get that rod. tons of stuff you can catch worth way more. Anyway i agree with the private IRC idea that would be great. have like a 1 week wait to accect new members or invites only. that will make people who really want in wait and people who just want a quick site turn back to Google to search ;) >.< Ow by they way
B) LVL 33+4 fishing from not using macro  :lmao:
:( Did it all the hard way ;)

I think things should definitely be "toned down" as well. Has anyone noticed there have been a lot more threads on the popular FFXI boards about bots?

I took down all my script variations because many people said they would like to see them kept private. If you guys do the irc thing, let me know the server etc room name and pw.

I'd like the IRC thing too ... I've done a ton of C++/Perl programming and I'd like to know how I could help with the development ... I've polished on Zeeto's scripts but I don't know the language well enough to do anything spectacular ....

yay

"I've had enough of these cheaters with their "autoit" scripts pretty much destroying the fish market. " "I know that i'm not always paying attention to the screen, i usually use my macro and listen for the controller to vibrate before reeling it it, but thats VERY different from running autoit. "

Hi I have been reading the posts in the last 2 days and i myself have modded some of the scripts trying to learn how they work alltho i did not get your last script u put up Ir0nfist it looked like a good one when i was reading about it when i was at school but u took it down befor i got home that day  Anyways i think taking down all the scripts and making a private IRC is a great idea because if this keeps up there will be way to many people out there doing this and will mess it up.

Well thz for reading my post!!!! B)
