My site is promoting all bots and if you don't like it too bad. I don't care whether you feel that my site and having a bot up hurts your "market" and the way you use your "bot".
AutoIt is a great program and if you are afraid of your bot being discovered then get better at scripting. If you don't know how then visit the forums and start discussing.
In any case, hiding bots is not the answer anymore. Education and instruction is.

No you can't actually. The worst that can be done is a GM can pull you away from the shore/pier/lake etc. so you can't fish and monitor you.
However with my script for instance, as soon as that occurs it pauses the script. Since they cannot actively scan your computer for working applications, there's really nothing that can be done.
Bots live..

What do you mean? If you can't hid the bots, then let everyone have them? How is this helpful?

As I fix them, it just gets better.
The site will not openly show all of the code on the bot and like I said, AutoIt is not a hard program for any developer to get and figure out. There really is nothing they can do about it even if they do.
AutoIt does not send 3rd party packets to the server and thus it can only be detected by "bad" programming on the scripters part.
If you want to use your script that you create and you feel its 100% working, well be my guest. I'm not so arrogant. I feel that I have a very good bot and the more people use it and provide feedback, the better I can make it in the long run.

Thanks for ruining botting for all of us. Making the bot available to the whole world will force Squares hand.
By promoting your site on this forum and other sites that I've seen - you're just stroking your ego and looking for donations. Pathetic. Your reasons for making it available is flawed. What is the good to making your script better if you create an environment that will be hostile to botting in the long run? Do you think people won't complain once the population of botters doubles? Do you think that Square will ignore their complaints?
You are ultimately destroying my ability to bot. This isn't under the radar anymore thanks to folks like you and Deidre. If you happen to come to your wits you'll do the right thing. If you don't -- well you are just a fool.

You do something that is blatantly cheating and ruining things for "normal" players and then you spend all day bitching that too many people know about your l33t scripts and are ruining your attempts to cheat.
Cheat if you like, but then don't start crying that too many people are following suit and trying to "level the playing field" - that's just human nature.

I have news for you, your economy will go to hell just like every other popular online game. If you think you can keep these bots a secret, you're insane. These bots aren't hard to write. AutoIt isn't the only way to write them, either, although I would guess its one of the more easy ways.
These posts are getting more and more asinine the further they go on. People wanting to sell bots, people wanting to keep them secret, people wanting them to be community projects. Don't you people see? Everybody is on their own agenda and almost everybody only cares for themself.
How many of you know what AutoIt really is? Hmm? How many of you have even noticed this is NOT a general gaming forum but is supposed to be related to the discussion of AutoIt and how to write scripts for games using it? Did any of you even read the sticky at the top of the forum?
Jon's stated that if this forum became a problem and started making AutoIt look bad, he'd drop it. From what I can see, its past that point. This forum is in stark contrast to the rest of the boards on here. It feels like some board from another site has accidentally gotten cross-linked in here, its that out of place with the ideals and attitudes of the rest of us.
I would love to see this forum gone, and I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way. I just don't want a deluge of gaming posts pervading the other forums were this one to go away.

At least the bandwith wont be drained from you guys, and it gives time for the botting craze to die down. It's win win.

Personally, I will keep all bots and scripts up on my website and it doesn't matter what those in disagreement say - it will remain a fact.
Anyone who things that a friendly program should be the juice for illegal programming and then forbids others to promote their own code - are the true hypocrits.
Code is simply that - code.
If you have your own code then do with it as you please. Do not dare tell me to do what I want with my own scripts. I will keep mine open and "free". I will further promote the link on "any" website and that includes every popular gaming website for the 4 games I listed.
If you don't like it then don't visit my site.
Jon I apologize for all the idiots who think and feel that what is an honest scripting site such as autoit - that they can use it for FFXI solely. This is why I created my own site.
Feel free to redirect anyone wanting to find information on bots to my site at http://bots.gamerscove.net.
This may take the hits and the publicity (negative) away from your site.
Thanks and good luck.

This coming from somebody worried about bots screwing up a virtual economy? If what you say is in any way true, at least Ealric is wanting some real money and not a couple bits set in a file. All you care about is getting donations.. just say it and get it over with instead of making these half-assed attempts to justify spreading bots to the masses.

Hahah, you're quick Larry.I never said I was worried about the virtual economy nor did I ever imply it. In fact, I don't care about it at all. I just want to bot without the game admins coming down on me.
You're just putting words in my mouth and picking a fight. So, go have sexual relations with yourself and the high horse you rode in on intercourseface.

Um, I don't think donations will cover what I pay for a website lad.All you care about is getting donations.. just say it and get it over with instead of making these half-assed attempts to justify spreading bots to the masses.
I pay $200.00 per month for that site alone, not counting bandwidth uppage. I have 2 other sites that I pay for and I'm a network admin making 80k per year.
Donations are not necessary but they help with site costs. Do I really need them? Nah. Anyone who thinks they will get $200.00 a month in donations and then some is a bit naive and probably a kid.
You are a kid. Do the math youngin.

You have daddy issues or something? I never specifically named you in anything and you're going off on me? I'm proud of your vocabulary, however. Calling me names about a billion other people have really shows you to stand out amongst the crowd. And you're a donkey's anus.

The problem is this, some are making this freely available to others who have little to no knowledge of what they are using. This allows every joe blow to bot and WILL end up ruining things, although thinking about it, i think the people that know what they are doing will survive as they most likely have protection measures built in. I am guilty of this, but i quickly rectified the situation by removing my code. Unfortunately, I did explain how to get autopause working, which in hindsight I should not have done. Yeah maybe they would have figured it out on their own, and maybe not. You make this readily available to anyone, and you are screwing yourself. I gave a couple people code with some protection also when i first figured it out cause i was happy about it. I just hope that doesn't get picked up by Ealric also and ends up being proliferated, cause that would truly suck. But i haven't heard anything about this really in the open, so it seems it stayed under wraps. So keep using your bots, you will disappear, the people that pick something up that someone else made, will disappear, people that cannot fathom new ways to make things work and think linearly in their code, will disappear. I came to this forum to try and get some ideas. Zeeto provided a base (thank you) and i improved from there exponentially. Zeeto is the only one that helped me at all here really. I've gained a couple ideas from other people also, outside of this forum. Er, anyways getting off track. Basically, what i am trying to say is, if you are smart enough to make your own bot and protect yourself, then do it. If you are only smart enough to link to a website with lackluster code, you are gonna get spanked by a GM. If you wanna bot, then make it happen yourself. BTW Ealric, i like how you said you were taking down all your code, er oh wait you are still distributing? Have fun with your fanbase of lazy people who don't want to do things themselves. Oh and btw, I am in the process of copyrighting that theory, so have fun for a small amount of time distributing. I will enforce this also. Flame me all ya want. If you can't tell by my personality, I could REALLY, i mean REALLY care less what anyone at all thinks about me as a person. So, keep posting the sights that have anything i came up with in em. You'll be hit with copyright infringement soon enough. Peace.
The sad thing is most of the bot coders on this forum are complete idiots. Basic knowledge of scripting, etc...
How many of you know what the ByRef directive is and how it works? Or better yet, how about code format? K&R style, what have you. Variable scoping?
Not many sadly. Most of the code I've seen posted here is about as simple as a basic script that prints Hello World 500 times.
There are exceptions... you people need to get a clue and just get on with your life instead of whining and bitching.
I hope you kiddies get caught because you don't know how to code. Serves you right.
Props to Ir0n, Mike, pud, and the rest of you who know who you are. ^^
