Disable Hardware (specifically microphone)?

Hello,

Can anyone suggest a place to start looking for hardware control using AutoIt? Specifically I want to write a script that will detect if the machine has a microphone (either jack or onboard) and disable it. I was guessing that I would be searching for specific Hardware ID's/Device ID's but wasn't sure where to start. I searched in the forums for Microphone Device ID and Hardware ID and a couple others and could not find a posting that was close to where I was trying to go.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Should I be looking at WMI? Using Devcon? Something else?

Dig through the tree of the tool of the microsoft scripting guys: ScriptomaticV2.hta

Using Devcon?

This might be a good start:

devcon findall * >everything.txt

Or search google for "laptop micro* diable paranoi*" >_<

Look at audio.au3. You can set the microphone to mute, and that should do what you need.

@rudi - While yes I agree it seems like paranoia, we actually have a very legitimate business reason for needing the functionality.
