I started this project a while ago and I haven't updated it in some time. To keep this idea alive, I thought I would share it on here. :D I hope someone find this project helpful as I would like to see this with all the features/ideas listed below.

The idea:

Read an RSS feed and display it on the desktop in a "ticker" type format.

Features:

RSS source stored in a .ini file

RSS update frequency stored in a .ini file (not currently being used)

Pause ticker scroll on mouse over

Dock (top/bottom) of the screen

Context menu to change dock location. (Top/Bottom)

To Do:

Add hyperlinks to each RSS item

Store dock location in .ini file

Make use of update frequency stored in .ini file

Zip:

RSS_Ticker.zip

I'm not sure how I'm going to add hyperlinks to each RRS item yet. Any ideas guys?

Also, I've been cleaning up some minor bugs that I found, most likely I'll post an update tomorrow. :) (Maybe I'll have this project all finished up tomorrow. w00t)

I have just installed autoit here on this pc, downloaded zip fil etc, but i get an error when i try to run the program:

C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoIt3\Include\_XMLDomWrapper.au3 (451) : ==> Error in expression.:

$objNodeList = $objDoc.documentElement.selectNodes ($strXPath)

$objNodeList = ^ ERROR

Any ideas ?

This works good, though scroll could be smoother and a tad faster.

Would also need background colour & text color attributes.

maybe a Cache.ini to load up a directory of news items refreshable every 45 mins.

Other than that, it looks and works good :>

I'll hafta see if I can add more functionality to this thing on my copy

An immortal object must be copied, so that we get a mortal copy of it, since we try not to destroy immortal objects.
