GUICtrlSetTip bug in 3.3.1.4

Hi !

Since switching to AutoIt 3.3.1.4 (from 3.3.1.1) I noticed that all my tips (created with GUICtrlSetTip)

when allowed to expire (that is, when you keep the mouse pointer over the control until it disappears)

refuse to show again. Can anyone confirm this behaviour ? I couldn't find anything about it in the

Bug Tracker.

TIA,

whim

Thanks trancexx,

(XP SP2 here) So, do i report this straight away, or do you recommend waiting for more reactions

about other OS, AutoIt versions ?

whim

You are afraid to report? :)

It looks like an issue with OS (fancy leet profile of AutoIt forum users using more advanced systems and therefore not being able to confirm, suggests).

Nevertheless, the documentation isn't suggesting any changes with betas.

I know what I would do.

whim,

GUICtrlSetTip works correctly for me on Vista SP2 with both 3.3.0.0 and 3.3.1.4. Tips always reappear, even after alllowing them to expire. I used the Help file example to test.

I would still report it though - but do make sure you mention the XP/Vista difference.

Pardon the necro on this thread. But...

This bug has always been, and still is, apparent on all my (XP Pro SP3) machines.

All you have to do is run the example script in the helpfile for GUICtrlSetTip().

If you move off the tip prior to timeout, you can move back and the tip is displayed.

If you allow the tip to timeout, the tip becomes disabled and no longer functions.

I don't know why his ticket was dismissed as "No Bug"...

I just ran the script in the bug report, and it worked fine for me under Windows 7 x86. That's probably why it was marked as "Works for me" because it does work right, it might be a problem with the computer you're testing it on rather than the function itself.

EDIT: I just tested this on a Windows XP (SP3) machine and the tool tips disappear from all icons in the system tray (if you keep the mouse pointer there until the tip fades out) until you hover over another icon, so the problem is with XP and not with the tooltips in AutoIt.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I don't think many people would see it as a flaw. But if you need to have the tip shown again then you can use yor own code to show a tip as often as you like by having an "onHover" handler.

Serial port communications UDF Includes functions for binary transmission and reception.printing UDF Useful for graphs, forms, labels, reports etc.Add User Call Tips to SciTE for functions in UDFs not included with AutoIt and for your own scripts.Functions with parameters in OnEvent mode and for Hot Keys One function replaces GuiSetOnEvent, GuiCtrlSetOnEvent and HotKeySet.UDF IsConnected2 for notification of status of connected state of many urls or IPs, without slowing the script.
