Hiding Dialog TaskBar Buttons

Hi,

I have been looking at ways to hide the TaskBar buttons of the dialog boxes produced by my AutoIt apps so that the TaskBar does not become too cluttered. I know I can use the TOOLWINDOW extended style to prevent them entirely, but I do not like the small closure [X] that this gives.

At present I am using a UDF involving _GUICtrlToolbar_HideButton, but this produces an annoying flicker on the Taskbar as the button is initially shown by GUISetState before being immediately hidden.

Searching has so far produced nothing beyond those 2 options. Does anyone have another suggestion?

Thanks in advance,

M23

Yashied,

Thank you. I knew that there had to be something simple. :)

speck,

Certainly - although (thanks to Yashied) I am no longer trying. :)

My AutoIt app has a menu, of which the vast majority of items produce separate dialogs. I wanted to prevent these dialogs from appearing on the Taskbar at the bottom (usually) of the screen. Basically this was to keep the Taskbar uncluttered - I have more than enough buttons there anyway. The following shows the difference that Yashied's tip makes:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

$hGUI = GUICreate("Parent", 500, 500, 100, 100)
GUISetState()

$hHidden_Dialog = GUICreate("Hidden Dialog", 200, 200, 300, 300, -1, -1, $hGUI)
GUISetState()

$hVisible_Dialog = GUICreate("Visible Dialog", 200, 200, 500, 500)
GUISetState()

While 1
    Switch GUIGetMsg()
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit
    EndSwitch
WEnd

I hope that is clear. ;)

By the way, you can "stick" to the AutoIt hidden window.

AutoItWinSetTitle('MyUniqueAutoItTitle')

$hForm = GUICreate('MyGUI', 400, 400, -1, -1, -1, -1, WinGetHandle('MyUniqueAutoItTitle'))
GUISetState()

Do
Until GUIGetMsg() = -3

Yashied,

Yet another of your "helpful hints" - so thanks yet again.
