Strip illegal Chars from string[SOLVED]

Hi

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

I'm looking for a way to strip chars. that can't be used in a save file name. i get the name to save the file with thrue an input read, where a company name could be writen, but not all comp's have legale char's in there name, så to be shure that i could save the file to disk i need to strip thoes chars, but Stringreplace is't goodenugh ;) any one have a sug for how i could do this?

do you have an example string that has those chars that you don't want?

Rex,

You need to enter the murky world of Regular Expressions! ;)

This one removes all banned characters from a string which is to be used as a file name:

$sText = "Wonder* Corporation /inc\"

$sNewText = StringRegExpReplace($sText, '\\|/|:|\*|\?|\"|\<|\>|\|', "")

MsgBox(0, "New Text", $sNewText)

I you have questions, I will try and answer them, but I am not an expert in SRE by any means. :evil:

Nope, i don't have a list of chars - course i'm not shure on witch can or can't be used in filenames, and coulden finde any thing on my friend google ;) but it could be that i dont use the prober search string ? who knows..

Thx, this is what i'm looking for - after Replying to Admirale... i found the same thing in help file, dont know how i could overlook it in the first place ;)
