link me please + question

Recommended Posts

a long time ago, someone linked me with an array usage tutorial. how to make them, how to use them PROPERLY, etc.

i lost it. link please?

while i'm making a topic, i thought i'll add a question.

i want to use StringSplit() to split a variable to single numbers.

however, the number might be too large for me to handle.

question: how do i limit the size of the array, and, is there even a need to limit it, since i'll be just using the first 5 numbers.

i doubt someone will beat the 100k score with a +1 point increase. that is unless they're bored >.>;;

question2: what the hell is sitting in $array=StringSplit($var,""), $array[0]?

it returns some strange numbers ;)

The Wiki tutorial on arrays is here - I assume that is what you are after.

Q1. Just check the number before you split it. If it is too large, then do something else along the lines of:

MsgBox(0, "Score too high", "If you are that bored - go and tidy your room instead!")

Q2. From that ever-useful, but sadly under-read Help file:

StringSplit - Return Value - Returns an array, by default the first element ($array[0]) contains the number of strings returned

So that element contains the number of elements split from your string. It helps in loops where you can use:

For $i = 1 To $array[0]

and run through all the elements. ;)
