How can I remove a character from a string by its position?

Info,

Use StringInStr to get the position of the offending character. Use StringMid to get the sections before and after the character you want to remove. Then concatenate the 2 cut sections.

And no example - you can do it yourself now!

There's probably loads of differant ways of doing it

$iRemovePos = 5
$sAlteredString = StringLeft($sMyString,$iRemovePos-1) & StringRight($sMyString,StringLen($sMyString)-$iRemovePos)

Probably a bit of overkill for this situation though. I was just bugging everyone by showing another method. There are several as pointed out earlier.

Sorry to nitpick on yours, but if the string happen to have newline(s) in it, it's best to handle the case with the (?s) switch. Then it works in all cases I know of.

BTW it's not obvious a regexp is an overkill here. It also depend on how the position is obtained beforehand. Might turn out all this can be done with a single regexp which could well reveal much faster than 4 or 5 string operations in a row + possibly glue code and/or tests in between.

Very true about the (?s) however the way I read the post is the OP wants to pass it a simple string and replace a character at a given position so the SRE I gave is just a replacement for what the others had already posted.

Yes I know; I posted more for future reference than for "solving" the already beaten to death OP case. If people are curious enough and find the thread, they could as well find sideways information that might then be relevant to their precise situation.
