Suppir
Hi everybody!I have some programs that use many regular expressions for text processing. From version 3.3.3.0 till 3.3.4.0 these programs had been working OK. But when I install version 3.3.6.0 I notice REAL SLOWING DOWN (up to 2-3 times) in using functions: StringRegExp, StringRegExpReplace. I can not understand - is it PCRE problem, or lack of realization, or I have to reorganize my regexes (they worked ok, but now very slow).p.s. I could add text of my program & regexes but there are a lot of text on Russian - I would not understand. Edited March 26, 2010 by Suppir
jchd
Can you please give an simple example of a taget and pattern where current PCRE gets significantly slower than previous version. I'm nowhere challenging your findings, rather curious. Don't miss the fact that Unicode REGEXPs are deemed to be much slower (in the ratio your state) than codepage version. I've no problem with a russian target & pattern as long at it's part of a codepage, even if I can't read or understand russian. In that case it should behave the same when "remapped" to ASCII letters, eventually loosing any meaning in the process, but we're only interested in the processing time, aren't we? Suppir
Can you try this little program, please? My link1. Run the program. 2. Copy some big text (>50 kb) in buffer (CTRL+c)3. Click CTRL+x. The program will do many replaces in text via regular expressions formulated in ini-file. Then it places modified text back in the buffer. In 3.3.6.0 this program works slower 2 - 3 times than in 3.3.4.0 Edited March 27, 2010 by Suppir
