Moderators Melba23 Posted March 28, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 28, 2010 Merchants,Read in the whole thing and then use StringRight to get the final character. If the Input control is in your own AutoIt script then use GUICtrlRead to get the content - otherwise we need more info to make sensible suggestions.M23 Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind Open spoiler to see my UDFs: Spoiler ArrayMultiColSort ---- Sort arrays on multiple columnsChooseFileFolder ---- Single and multiple selections from specified path treeview listingDate_Time_Convert -- Easily convert date/time formats, including the language usedExtMsgBox --------- A highly customisable replacement for MsgBoxGUIExtender -------- Extend and retract multiple sections within a GUIGUIFrame ---------- Subdivide GUIs into many adjustable framesGUIListViewEx ------- Insert, delete, move, drag, sort, edit and colour ListView itemsGUITreeViewEx ------ Check/clear parent and child checkboxes in a TreeViewMarquee ----------- Scrolling tickertape GUIsNoFocusLines ------- Remove the dotted focus lines from buttons, sliders, radios and checkboxesNotify ------------- Small notifications on the edge of the displayScrollbars ----------Automatically sized scrollbars with a single commandStringSize ---------- Automatically size controls to fit textToast -------------- Small GUIs which pop out of the notification area

Moderators Melba23 Posted March 28, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 28, 2010 Merchants,I say again: Read in the whole thing and then use StringRight to get the final characterM23P.S. I realise this is only scratch code, but reusing the same variable is a very bad habit to get into. GEOSoft
Well big M, it looks like we have the opposite situation to the other thread we are both involved in. Reading the help file would have turned up a few potential solutions like the ones below. Some easy ones, some not so easy ones. $sVal = StringRight(GUICtrlRead($hInput), 1) $sVal = GUICtrlRead($hInput) $sVal = StringTrimLeft($sVal, StringLen($sVal)-1) $aRead = StringRegExp(GUICtrlRead($hInput), ".*(.)", 1) If NOT @Error Then $sVal = $aRead[0] $iStart = StringLen(GUICtrlRead($hInput)) $sVal = StringMid(GUICtrlRead($hInput), $iStart) $aRead = StringSplit(GUICtrlRead($hInput), "") If IsArray($aRead) Then $sVal = $aRead[Ubound($aRead)-1] Ad-infinitum. Searching the forums should turn up some exact example code because I know that I've written several solutions to this question before, as have others. George Question about decompiling code? GEOSoft
$aRtn = StringRegExp(GuiCtrlRead($hInput), "(.+).", 1) If NOT @Error Then $sVal = $aRtn[0] MsgBox(0, "Result", $sVal) EndIf Edit Or $sCurr = GUICtrlRead($hInput) $iLen = StringLen($sCurr) -1 $sVal = StringLeft($sCurr, $iLen) Like I said, there are countless ways to solve these little issues plus, each and everyone of them is in the help file.
