JohnOne
Looking at the function VarGetType() in the helpfile, which the example of is this. $int = 1 $float = 2.0 Msgbox(0, "Types", "$int is " & VarGetType($int) & @CRLF & "$float is " & VarGetType($float) ) $float is returned as double Well I thought it was a floating point variable. Are float and double the same thing or does this function not return float ? Or am I missing something ? Moderators Melba23 Posted March 28, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 28, 2010 (edited) JohnOne,From the Help file for VarGetType:"Remarks - IsInt can return different results as it tries to convert from a string or float." - where IsInt is presumably a misprint for VarGetTypeSo you cannot say they did not warn you! M23P.S. I will raise a ticket for the documentation.Edit: Ticket #1544 raised. jchd
"float" vs. "double" is long-rooted terminology. It comes from the times when a float (or single precision floating-point) variable was a bargain in computation time and processor complexity. When technology offered double (double precision) for about the same cost in computation time and processor price, most things shifted to double. There is also "long double" floating around.Let's say that for AutoIt, a floating-point variable is a double, about the same as a deadly snake due to pitfalls with inaccuracies.
