There is a bastardized method that can be used where you don't even need the $ES_READONLY style. In order for that to work, at some point you have to read the contents of the Edit into a variable ($sStr) Then use something like this in a loop (your message loop is fine.) If GUICtrlRead($hEdit) <> $SStr Then GUICtrlSetData($hEdit, $sStr) That will prevent user changes but it usually means more code and far more checking. George Question about decompiling code?
