JohnOne
Is there a way to check if an array element exists ? I know about ubound() and that and for...next loops But the stucture of my code is like this $sVar = StringSplit("1,2,3,4",",") ;<======= Unknown string length If ($sVar[1]) Then MsgBox(0,"","OK") EndIf If ($sVar[2]) Then MsgBox(0,"","OK") EndIf If ($sVar[3]) Then MsgBox(0,"","OK") EndIf If ($sVar[4]) Then MsgBox(0,"","OK") EndIf If ($sVar[5]) Then MsgBox(0,"","OK") EndIf Bearing in mind that MsgBox(0,"","OK") is not the same in reality for each condition. I cannot find a solution to check in this fashion Any tips ? Moderators Melba23 Posted April 9, 2010 Moderators Share Posted April 9, 2010 JohnOne,I presume you are trying to avoid a "Subscript out of range" error. If you check whether there are sufficient elements BEFORE actually testing the element, you do not get an error - even though you have code referencing the non-existent element: $sVar = StringSplit("1,2,3,4",",") ;<======= Unknown string length If $sVar[0] > 0 Then If ($sVar[1]) Then MsgBox(0,1,"OK") EndIf EndIf If $sVar[0] > 1 Then If ($sVar[2]) Then MsgBox(0,2,"OK") EndIf EndIf If $sVar[0] > 2 Then If ($sVar[3]) Then MsgBox(0,3,"OK") EndIf EndIf If $sVar[0] > 3 Then If ($sVar[4]) Then MsgBox(0,4,"OK") EndIf EndIf If $sVar[0] > 4 Then If ($sVar[5]) Then ; non-existent element referenced, but no error MsgBox(0,5,"OK") EndIf EndIfOr do I have the wrong end of the stick? AdmiralAlkex
You know you want UBound, so why don't you use it? (or in this case you could use the first element from StringSplit) $sVar = StringSplit("1,2,3,4",",") ;<======= Unknown string length If ($sVar[0] = 1) Then MsgBox(0,"","1") ElseIf ($sVar[0] = 2) Then MsgBox(0,"","2") ElseIf ($sVar[0] = 3) Then MsgBox(0,"","3") ElseIf ($sVar[0] = 4) Then MsgBox(0,"","4") ElseIf ($sVar[0] = 5) Then MsgBox(0,"","5") EndIf Or am I not understanding you right? .Some of my scripts: ShiftER, Codec-Control, Resolution switcher for HTC ShiftSome of my UDFs: SDL UDF, SetDefaultDllDirectories, Converting GDI+ Bitmap/Image to SDL Surface
JohnOne
Thanks Melba23, that is exactly what I was trying to achieve. AdmiralAlkex, Thanks, looks like you posted the same solution in a different way. Ace guys. AdmiralAlkex
Well I guess so, but Melba's was more like your code .Some of my scripts: ShiftER, Codec-Control, Resolution switcher for HTC ShiftSome of my UDFs: SDL UDF, SetDefaultDllDirectories, Converting GDI+ Bitmap/Image to SDL Surface
