Visible Text and the Windows Taskbar

Recommended Posts

Hello all... I am attempting to see if a particular toolbar is added to the start menu by [attempting to] get the visible text of the task bar. I can see the text in AutoIt Window Info, but no matter how I call ControlGetText() it always returns an empty string.

I have tried the following:

Dim $smVisTxt = ControlGetText("[CLASS:Shell_TrayWnd]", "", "[CLASS:ReBarWindow32; INSTANCE:1]")
Dim $smVisTxt = ControlGetText("[CLASS:Shell_TrayWnd]", "", 40965)
Dim $smVisTxt = ControlGetText("[CLASS:Shell_TrayWnd]", "", "[CLASSNN:ReBarWindow321]")

I am fairly certain that it isn't the [CLASS:Shell_TrayWnd] that is the problem because it works for a WinActivate call.

I have search and seen other scripts that appear to work on the taskbar without incident or mention of this. Advice anyone?

AndrewBurns,

This script gives me all the active parts of my TaskBar:

For $i = 1 To 10
    $sText = ControlGetText("[CLASS:Shell_TrayWnd]", "", "[CLASS:ToolbarWindow32; INSTANCE:" & $i & "]")
    If $sText = "" Then ExitLoop
    ConsoleWrite($i & " : " &$sText & @CRLF)
Next

I am running Vista and get the following:

1 : Notification Area
2 : System Control Area
3 : Quick Launch
4 : Running Applications
5 :

When I add new toolbars they show up without problems - so I hope this works for you too. :(
