funnydawg
This just has to be a simple problem but I have tried duplicating the help file examples until I am blue in the face and it just doesnt work. I started trying Run("iexplore.exe") and then explicitly naming the files location and it wouldnt run. Now, with a file called Citynames.txt in the script directory I can do FileOpen("Citynames.txt") and it works fine. But if the file exists as C:\WB\Citynames.txt I try to do FileOpen("C:\WB\Citynames.txt") and it wont work. Of course ultimately I would like to do something like FileOpen(@HomeDir & "\WB\Citynames.txt") but I dont have a prayer of getting that to work until the explicit line to the file works. What crazy thing am I doing wrong??? Thanks to anyone who can help!
jchd
"it won't work" is a little vague. Which error do you get? Can it be Access rights? funnydawg
Referencing the RUN command: Run("notepad.exe") starts notepad. Run("iexplore.exe") does nothing and there is no error message. Run("C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe") also fails to run even though the program sits nicely in that directory. No error messages...just nothing happens. But I can double click an icon pointing to that directory and it starts just fine. Has me baffled.
jchd
Try using ShellExecute an URL. That sound a bit weird though; are you sure the machine isn't stone by some malware?
