Retrieving all files from a dir to an array

Recommended Posts

AutoIt can find all the folders. It takes a bit of programming, and there might be a faster way with COM Objects, but I havent delved into that yet. You may want to search for Find Folders or File Search on the forums.

Here is what I found very quickly.

_FileSearch()

I hope that helps some.

I'm currently in the process of converting a VB.NET app to AutoIt, but I have problem with the "GetFiles"-command. Is there a substitute in AutoIt to do this?

Thanks,

This requres the 3.1.1++ Beta

#include <array.au3>

$fso = ObjCreate("Scripting.FileSystemObject");Instantiate FileSystemObject
$rootFolder = "C:\"
$root = $fso.GetFolder($rootFolder)

$files = $root.Files; Create files collection
$num = $files.Count

Dim $fnames[$num]
Dim $cnt = 0

For $file in $files; Loop through files in folders
    $fnames[$cnt] = $file.Name
    $cnt = $cnt + 1
Next

_ArrayDisplay($fnames, "Files List")

Doesn't work needs to be ripped out of the troubleshooting lexicon. It means that what you tried did not produce the results you expected. It begs the questions 1) what did you try?, 2) what did you expect? and 3) what happened instead?

Reproducer: a small (the smallest?) piece of stand-alone code that demonstrates your trouble
