Find Mulitdimension array size

Recommended Posts

I know this has been asked before, but can't seem to find the right words to search for the answer.

I am using Autoit to read an SQL database. Now, the records size changes depending on the select criteria. Based on that, I need to find the size of the 2 dimension array so I can loop through the data.

I have tried the ubound for the main array (ie, Ubound(myArray) ) and it gives me what I need for the rows. Now I need how many columns. Tried the Ubound(myArray[ubound(myArray)]) but it gives me errors and will not go on.

Thanks in advance

dickep,

From the Help file:

UBound - Returns the size of array dimensions.

UBound ( Array [, Dimension] )

Parameters

Array The array variable which is being queried.

Dimension [optional] Which dimension of a multi-dimensioned array to report the size of. Default is 1, which is the first dimension. If this parameter is 0, the number of subscripts in the array is returned.

Here is a short example:

Global $aArray[3][4]

ConsoleWrite("Number of dimensions: " & UBound($aArray, 0) & @CRLF)
ConsoleWrite("First dimension: " & UBound($aArray) & @CRLF)
ConsoleWrite("Second dimension: " & UBound($aArray, 2) & @CRLF)

All clear? :P
