How to get the class/type of a (single) control?

Recommended Posts

This appears to return the class of a control.

Local $WinTitle, $sClass, $PID

$PID = Run("calc.exe")

$WinTitle = "Calculator"
WinWaitActive($WinTitle)

$sClass = _ControlGetClass($WinTitle, "0.")

MsgBox(0, "", $sClass)

If $PID Then ProcessClose($PID)

;Parameters - $Title is title of window
;            $sText is text on control.
Func _ControlGetClass($Title, $sText)
    Local $text, $aTest, $hWnd
    $text = StringTrimRight(WinGetClassList($WinTitle, ""), 1)
    $aTest = StringSplit($text, @LF)
    $hWnd = ControlGetHandle($Title, "", "[TEXT:" & $sText & "]")
    For $i = 1 To UBound($aTest) - 1
        If $hWnd = ControlGetHandle($Title, "", "[CLASS:" & $aTest[$i] & ";TEXT:" & $sText & "]") Then Return $aTest[$i]
    Next
    Return -1
EndFunc ;==>_ControlGetClass

supersonic,

Start reading the Help file before posting, my friend!

To get the class:

_WinAPI_GetClassName - Retrieves the name of the class to which the specified window belongs

#Include <WinAPI.au3>

_WinAPI_GetClassName($hWnd)

And to get the handle from a ControlID:

ControlGetHandle - Retrieves the internal handle of a control.

ControlGetHandle ( "title", "text", controlID )

Edit: Clarity
