WinWaitActive and date of creation help

Recommended Posts

Hello Auto-it Forum,

I am currently writing a program, via auto-it, that will search for files and folders, their dates of creation, and on choice open them up.

I have stumbled upon two fatalities:

First, I don't know how to get the date of a directory.

Second, all of the folders have different names and that have a serial number (which i know) and another random number (i.e 123456789--897754654) first one is the serial number... is there a way that WinWaitActive can see files?

Could you do this?

WinWaitActive( $sn & "--" *)

Thank you for all the help... :mellow:

InsectGrain,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum.

You get the creation date/time of a folder just as you do for a file - did you try? :party:

#include <Array.au3>

$aData = FileGetTime("C:\Windows")

_ArrayDisplay($aData)

$sData = FileGetTime("C:\Windows", 0, 1)

MsgBox(0, "Folder DateTime", $sData)

Just look at the Help file for FileGetTime and you will see how you need to set the parameters to get the result you want. :mellow:

As for matching the window title - look at Opt("WinTitleMatchMode") in the Help file. You will see that the default setting will match window titles from the start - so you should have no problems doing what you want:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

$sName = "123456789"

$hGUI = GUICreate($sName & "--898989", 500, 500)

GUISetState()

WinWaitActive($sName & "--")

MsgBox(0, "Hit", "If we are here, we found the window!")

While 1

    Switch GUIGetMsg()
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit
    EndSwitch

WEnd

If you have not yet realised - the Help file is your best friend. :party:

I hope that is all clear. :P
