[Solved] Deleting a Shortcut

Recommended Posts

I have created an Installer for one of my projects, that creates a Shortcut to the application, and is placed on the Desktop. However while testing my Uninstaller, It does not remove the Shortcut, Maybe some1 could point me in the right direction

It is created with this line in my installer:

FileCreateShortcut(@ProgramsDir & "\My Application\Core.exe",@DesktopDir & "\My Application.exe")

I have tried all 4 of these options, but to no avail.

FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "\My Application.exe")
FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "\My Application")
FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "My Application.exe")
FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "My Application")

Realm,

Short cuts have the ".lnk" extension. Try this:

FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "My Application.lnk")

I tried both

FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "My Application.ink")
FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "\My Application.ink")

unfortunately, it still is not being removed.

Realm,

Perhaps you need to create it with the correct .lnk extension - this works fine for me:

Sleep(10000)

ConsoleWrite("Creating" & @CRLF)

FileCreateShortcut("My.exe", @DesktopDir & "\My.lnk")

Sleep(10000)

ConsoleWrite("Deleting" & @CRLF)

FileDelete(@DesktopDir & "\My.lnk")

Allright, I am still having a problem deleting the shortcut, so I here is my stripped down Installer and my 2 part Uninstaller. Maybe some1 can see where I am going wrong.

Edit: Removed Script

Hopefully some1 can point out to me where I am going wrong, everything in these files works just fine, except for it will not delete the shortcut that is created by the Installer.

Edit: Thanks for all your help, I did eventually find that if I moved the removal to the first part of the uninstaller, it worked great. Problem has been solved
