XP dont have "localappdata" envget ?

Recommended Posts

$get = EnvGet ("localappdata")
MsgBox(0,'',$get)

For windows Vista and 7 it shows up as

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local

For XP its blank

Is there any other way to get to

Vista/7

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local

XP

C:\Documents and settings\Administrator\Local settings\Application Data

using envget without having to use

If @OSVERSION = "WIN_XP" Then
Elseif @OSVERSION = "WIN_7" Then
Elseif @OSVERSION = "WIN_Vista" Then

see ? this is to much

thanks in advance

By the way i tried to use

$GetTempDir = EnvGet ("TEMP") ;This used to get to Local folders for XP and Vista/7
$LongName = StringTrimRight ($GetTempDir,5)
$UserLocal = FileGetLongName ($LongName)

Problem with this is for XP, this has to be converted to

If $OS = "WIN_XP" Then Global $UserLocal = FileGetLongName ($LongName & "\Application Data")

See ?

I just trying to eliminate having to many ifs

it is my problem and by posting i thought i'd get help which will not involve using any UDF's (which in most cases are DLL call based which usually comes with architecture or Windows version capability issues.)

Its ok i ended up using

$GetTempDir = EnvGet ("TEMP") ;This used to get to Local folders for XP and Vista/7
$LongName = StringTrimRight ($GetTempDir,5)
If $OS = "WIN_XP" Then
    Global $UserLocal = FileGetLongName ($LongName & "\Application Data")
Else
    Global $UserLocal = FileGetLongName ($LongName)
EndIf

But still 7 lines of code instead of 1 is little to many for such simple variable

You dig up a 3 year old topic to post a link to a 10 year old blog post?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
