Text Macros

Recommended Posts

Hard to summarize my question in the description, so I'll be more specific:

I understand AutoIt can allow you to trigger your different macros through use of key combo's, correct?

But what if you have in the realm of 100's of macros: email responses, addresses, code snippets for your Dos batch files, etc.. many many of them.

Isn't there a limit to how many different key combo's?

(With the nonfree Keytext utility, you can specify an abbrev unique string of characters, that you simply enter. - however keytext only gives you a license for one PC, that's why I'm saying adios to it)

Next post will be about:

Send("We do not support game macros!" & "," & "Read this topic!")

Wrong: It is that you are getting a leave from this forum for 5 days.

pythonfreak,

HotKeySet allows you to use a fair number of combinations (Main key with up to 3 modifiers). But you can easily use the HotKeys to set other HotKeys which allow even more choice. A short example = press A twice:

; set initial hot keys

HotKeySet("a", "A_Pressed")
HotKeySet("{ESC}", "On_Exit")

; Keep script alive
While 1
    Sleep(10)
WEnd

Func On_Exit()
    Exit
EndFunc

Func A_Pressed()

    ; Unset the original hotkey
    HotKeySet("a")

    ; Set a new one
    HotKeySet("a", "New_A_pressed")

EndFunc

Func New_A_pressed()

    MsgBox(0, "Hi there", "You pressed "A" twice")

    ; Reset the original hotkey
    HotKeySet("a", "A_Pressed")

EndFunc

So the choice is effectively unlimited - if you can remember where you are in the sequences! And AutoIt can help you there too by displaying small GUIs as reminders if required. :blink:
