For some games and utilities, it is fun to uncompress to learn about how it works. You can also do things like change words around and stuff, or replace comments and instructions. Basically it is the same kind of fun as a hex editor.

For AutoIt, I think the uncompressed version will not run, as there are some checks in place.

When there was only a few exe compressing programs it was easy to uncompress things, of course without a good bit of knowlege it didnt' meen much to most people.
