60aside Posted August 4, 2010 Author Share Posted August 4, 2010 Hi Melba23, You were right, after trying most of the day to get what I want using a combo box, I've now given up. I can use your example - which does exactly what I want, the only thing lacking is when I want to make a selection from the list - I cannot use the up/down arrow keys to select (only the mouse). Could you advise how to get this working? Thanks. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

60aside Posted August 5, 2010 Author Share Posted August 5, 2010 Thanks M23, I'm populating the list with data pulled from sql. It will be in the form of something like below :- $NameList = "Alan|Andrew|Barry|Brian|Colin|Cristopher|Derek|David" I'm struggling getting this to "auto suggest" the way that you do with the random 5 letters. Could you help again please? This is the "icing on the cake" to the code I am working on. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Moderators Melba23 Posted August 6, 2010 Moderators Share Posted August 6, 2010 60aside,You need to have an array ($asKeyWords) filled with the individual names for the search as well as the "|" delimited string ($sData).So either create your array from the string:Local $sData = "Alan|Andrew|Barry|Brian|Colin|Cristopher|Derek|David" $asKeyWords = StringSplit($sData, "|")or populate your array with the data data pulled from sql and then create your string:For $i = 0 To UBound($asKeyWords) - 1 $sData &= $asKeyWords[$i] & "|" NextYour choice! Remember you will also need to change the upper value of the count in CheckInputText(). nikosliapis Posted June 6, 2012 Share Posted June 6, 2012 Hello everybody i have a situation where i need to use autocomplete in my combo boxes I managed to do it using the " _GUICtrlComboBox_AutoComplete()" function, copying the functions needed from the help file. But the problems is that i want to use it on multiple combo boxes and since i don't completely understand how the functions work, i'm not able to make the necessary changes. Below is the code of an example of mine: expandcollapse popup#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> #include <WindowsConstants.au3> #include <GUIComboBox.au3> ; include Dim $array_1[10] = ["one", "two", "three", "four", "five", "six", "seven", "eight", "nine", "ten"] Dim $array_2[5] = ["alpha", "bita", "gama", "delta", "epsilon"] $main = GUICreate("Example", 500, 200, 300, 200) $hcombo = GUICtrlCreateCombo("", 50, 50, 200, 20) $combo_b = GUICtrlCreateCombo("", 50, 100, 200, 20) $a="" For $i=0 To UBound($array_1)-1 $a &= $array_1[$i] & "|" Next GUICtrlSetData($hcombo, $a) $a="" For $i=0 To UBound($array_2)-1 $a &= $array_2[$i] & "|" Next GUICtrlSetData($combo_b, $a) GUIRegisterMsg($WM_COMMAND, "WM_COMMAND") GUISetState(@SW_SHOW) While 1 $msg = GUIGetMsg() Switch $msg Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Exit EndSwitch WEnd Func _Edit_Changed() _GUICtrlComboBox_AutoComplete($hCombo) EndFunc ;==>_Edit_Changed Func WM_COMMAND($hWnd, $iMsg, $iwParam, $ilParam) #forceref $hWnd, $iMsg Local $hWndFrom, $iIDFrom, $iCode, $hWndCombo If Not IsHWnd($hCombo) Then $hWndCombo = GUICtrlGetHandle($hCombo) $hWndFrom = $ilParam $iIDFrom = BitAND($iwParam, 0xFFFF) ; Low Word $iCode = BitShift($iwParam, 16) ; Hi Word Switch $hWndFrom Case $hCombo, $hWndCombo Switch $iCode Case $CBN_CLOSEUP ; Sent when the list box of a combo box has been closed _DebugPrint("$CBN_CLOSEUP" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_DBLCLK ; Sent when the user double-clicks a string in the list box of a combo box _DebugPrint("$CBN_DBLCLK" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_DROPDOWN ; Sent when the list box of a combo box is about to be made visible _DebugPrint("$CBN_DROPDOWN" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_EDITCHANGE ; Sent after the user has taken an action that may have altered the text in the edit control portion of a combo box _DebugPrint("$CBN_EDITCHANGE" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) _Edit_Changed() ; no return value Case $CBN_EDITUPDATE ; Sent when the edit control portion of a combo box is about to display altered text _DebugPrint("$CBN_EDITUPDATE" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_ERRSPACE ; Sent when a combo box cannot allocate enough memory to meet a specific request _DebugPrint("$CBN_ERRSPACE" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_KILLFOCUS ; Sent when a combo box loses the keyboard focus _DebugPrint("$CBN_KILLFOCUS" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_SELCHANGE ; Sent when the user changes the current selection in the list box of a combo box _DebugPrint("$CBN_SELCHANGE" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_SELENDCANCEL ; Sent when the user selects an item, but then selects another control or closes the dialog box _DebugPrint("$CBN_SELENDCANCEL" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_SELENDOK ; Sent when the user selects a list item, or selects an item and then closes the list _DebugPrint("$CBN_SELENDOK" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value Case $CBN_SETFOCUS ; Sent when a combo box receives the keyboard focus _DebugPrint("$CBN_SETFOCUS" & @LF & "--> hWndFrom:" & @TAB & $hWndFrom & @LF & _ "-->IDFrom:" & @TAB & $iIDFrom & @LF & _ "-->Code:" & @TAB & $iCode) ; no return value EndSwitch EndSwitch Return $GUI_RUNDEFMSG EndFunc ;==>WM_COMMAND Func _DebugPrint($s_text, $line = @ScriptLineNumber) ConsoleWrite( _ "!===========================================================" & @LF & _ "+======================================================" & @LF & _ "-->Line(" & StringFormat("%04d", $line) & "):" & @TAB & $s_text & @LF & _ "+======================================================" & @LF) EndFunc ;==>_DebugPrint As you can see autocomplete works only on the top combo (as expected).
