Adding time and date to file name.

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I'm new to this program. I was just wondering how to add a date veriable to a text file name. What I would like to do is create a log file after the program has run with the dateand time in the file name. I've been looking online and in the help file nad can't seem to find it.

Thank you.

Like this:

#include <File.au3>

$sLogFile = @ScriptDir & "\MyScript_" & @YEAR & @MON & @MDAY & @HOUR & @MIN & SEC & ".log"
_FileWriteLog($sLogFile, "Log initialized:  " & $sLogFile)

PuddinPie,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum.

You need to get the current date into a string and then use the & (concatenate) operator to join everything together.

Here is how to do it:

; Here is the original filename
$sFile = "C:\LogFile.txt"

; Separate the name and extension
$aSplit = StringSplit($sFile, ".")

; And concatenate in the date/time macros
$sNewFile = $aSplit[1] & " " & @YEAR & "/" & @MON & "/" & @MDAY  & " " & @HOUR & ":" & @MIN & ":" & @SEC & "." & $aSplit[2]

; And here we are
MsgBox(0, "New name", $sNewFile)

Obviously you can arrange the macros as you wish to get the exact name you want. :P

I hope that helps. ;)
