Break execution of a script

Hello again,

I really hope that I am not posting a question that has already been answered. I have searched a couple of hours doing some research, and I can not find the answer that I am seeking.

My question is, how to break from execution durring any point while the script is running. The only answer I can find is to use the break or exitloop options. These work great if I am breaking from a specific loop or function. However I need to be able to stop execution of the script no matter where in a function, or program the code is being executed.

Example:

I have a form with 3 buttons. Button 1 and 2 installs a program and Button 3 stops the script from executing. If, durring the installation, the script gets hung waiting for an installation screen, and that screen never opens (or something else happens to alter the installation from a normal flow), I need to be able to press Button 3 which will cause the script to stop execution.

In reality my form has multiple buttons, runs many different functions per button, installing many different programs, etc. So the "Stop" button can not be programed to work only for "button 1" (as in the example) to break from execution if the script gets stuck (for whatever unforseen situation). The "Stop" button needs to be able to stop the script from executing in any function, at any given time, from any line of code, (even if the script is not haning) no matter what the reason for being pushed.

I hope that this is possible? Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who reads/replies to this.

bran,

Take a look at the Interrupting a running function tutorial in the Wiki. Sounds just the thing! ;)
