Authenticating against Sharepoint Site Group

I've used AutoIt for light scripting for a couple of years, but this is something new to me, and am not sure how to proceed. Perhaps I'm not even heading in the right direction.

I'm looking for help with checking a user against a specific site group in Sharepoint.

What I'm trying to acomplish is displaying additional GUI controls for individuals who belong to a certain site group on our Sharepoint server. I don't have access to the server directly, I only have user administration privilages within my sharepoint sites.

I am currently facilitating this by parsing through a text file on the site, anyone without access can't read the file, so AutoIt defaults to the standard interface. The downside to this is that I now not only have to add users to the site group, but also have to modify a text file as well.

I don't have the option within my organization to request a new Active Directory group, so that is not an option for me either.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
