"If TheseWordsAppear Then" help

Hi all, I wanted to start off by saying I've done hours of searching and cannot find what I'm looking for, so I'm asking for your help.

I'm trying to create something that when it sees certain text pop up, it will initiate a command. I tried looking at PixelSearch but I don't believe this is what I'm looking for. I've used other macro tools in the past where you'd take a tiny screenshot of the text, and if it found the text in a certain part of the screen, it would initiate a command. Only problem is, I need it to work on an ever-changing background.

Is there anything like this that AutoIt supports? Thanks in advance. ;)

... sees certain text pop up ...

Is this text displayed in a message box or something similar or written to the desktop?

Could you please post a screenshot of such a message?

Skizzy,

Where exactly does this text "pop up"? Is it within a control? If it is on the GUI itself, can you see it when you look at the "Visible Text" tab of the Au3 Window Info Tool? ;)

If the answer to either of these is "Yes" then the problem should be solvable without having to use any form of pixel function.

If "No" then we will need some more information - starting with the name of the app you are trying to automate. :)

This is displayed on the desktop.

For example, if this "Cancel" text changed to "Hello", is there a way to detect this?

Also, if you look closely, the background is not completely solid. On the desktop, it changes very slightly but maintains most of its blue color.

I'm not very advanced, so I'm really confused by this post, but I don't think it should apply to me. Does what I replied to 'water', help clear up any confusion?

Thank you both for your prompt replies. ;)

If the text is not moving about you can grab a small area around the word just like the one you show in one of your posts and if you have M$ office you can use OCR to see if any text is visible. Then simply match the text and move on from there.

I have done it and I got 99% of my info from other posts on this forum, try looking for OCR etc. If you get really stuck I will try and dig out my program and give you some better info.
