How to check if control exists?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hello, I've been stuck on a problem recently.

I want to automate a series of programs that will do maintenance on my computer (clean, then defragment, etc.)

I need some way of checking if one program is done, so that it may move on to the next.

The defragmenting tool I am using is Defraggler. One way that I imagine will work is that, when Defraggler is done defragmenting, my script will know because a button appears in Defraggler that says "View Files...". I want it to then close so that another program can be then used. Au3Info gives me the Class and ID and whatnot of this button, but I don't know how to implement this info.

TL; DR- How do I check to see if this control exists? What other ways can I achieve this effect?

xmanfit0,

I would do it like this. This code looks for the "Open this script" button in the AutoIt help GUI so you can check it - you would obviously have to change the parameters to match the button you are looking for: :graduated:

While 1
If ControlCommand("AutoIt Help", "Open this Script", "[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:1]", "IsEnabled", "") Then ExitLoop
Sleep(10) ; Important or you eat all the CPU which will not help the defrag!
WEnd

All clear? :(
