replace line in a file

all i want to do is replace a simple line in a file or even better the only number within the the line.

this is the line - SET lastCharacterIndex "1"

now with all the try's that i have attempted to do this have fail. The number is what i am really trying to change using a .ini file.

I've tried filewrite(),filewriteline,stringreplace() yady yada but i can't seem to get it to simple change the example 1 to say a 5. Instead i always get a a new line

at the end of the file with the updated number that was read from the ini file please help me.

Have you checked _FileWriteToLine()?? I know you said INI File and normally I would suggest INIReadSection() then Loop through change the Array Index (e.g. 5) and write back to the INI Section.

Not Good! I would contact a Doctor.

Plus I would suggest posting Code you have and/or the INI File.

yes i have checked that. but its reading from the ini then writing the info to a different file. basicly reading the users setting then writing them to a file. just a good example and yes i have looked in the help files but not so much luck.
