Folder attributes using a variable

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have declared a folder using the variable $dir like below:

Global $dir = @MyDocumentsDir & "\My Secure Folder"

I would like to be able to set the attributes of this folder. Currently I set the attributes of c:\confidential using the code below:

RunWait(@ComSpec & " /c attrib +s +h +r C:\confidential",@UserProfileDir,@SW_HIDE)
            RunWait(@ComSpec & " /c cacls c:\confidential /e /c /d " & @UserName,@UserProfileDir,@SW_HIDE)

I would like to substitute c:\confidential with my variable $dir but keep getting the syntax wrong.

Greatful for any help.

M

Use:

RunWait(@ComSpec & ' /c attrib +s +h +r "' & $dir & '"',@UserProfileDir,@SW_HIDE)
RunWait(@ComSpec & ' /c cacls "' & $dir & '" /e /c /d ' & @UserName,@UserProfileDir,@SW_HIDE)

You could use the FileSetAttrib command in Autoit to do that without having to resort to calling ComSpec.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I was told that FileSetAttrib would not work for directories. Is this not the case?

Many Thanks

It works on directories. I do it frequently.

You can't set the Directory attribute to a non-directory item, such as a file, but you can use it ON directories.
