how to get a list of ALL groups in a domain?

i can't believe I am having this much trouble with something so stupid.

The AD functions help documentation is sorely lacking in how to properly structure filters when running the functions.

I assume I need to use the _AD_GetObjectsInOU but I don't know how to filter it to give me an array of ALL groups inside active directory. I just want a simple array of every group inside the domain.

I will answer this question as soon as am at my windows pc on saturday.

You could try _AD_GetObjectsInOU with "(objectcategory=group)" as LDAP string.

For details please check this link.

#include <ad.au3>
#include <array.au3>

_AD_Open()

Global $list[3]

$list[0] = "Account Operators"
$list[1] = "Administrators"
$list[2] = "Backup Operators"

$var = _AD_GetObjectsInOU("", "(objectcategory=group)", 2)
_ArrayDisplay($var)

For $i = 1 To UBound($var) - 1
    $look = ""
    $look = _ArraySearch($var, $list[$n])
    _ArrayDelete($var, $look)
Next

_ArrayDisplay($var)

_AD_Close()

I'm having trouble deleting a list of groups I don't want to appear in the array

I get a variable not being declared error for $n

$look = _ArraySearch($var, $list[$n]) should be $look = _ArraySearch($var, $list[$i])?

$list can't have $i because I'm already using $i for the $var array

Something maybe like this? But my code isn't working

#include <ad.au3>
#include <array.au3>

_AD_Open()

Global $list[3]

$list[0] = "Account Operators"
$list[1] = "Administrators"
$list[2] = "Backup Operators"

$var = _AD_GetObjectsInOU("", "(objectcategory=group)", 2)
_ArrayDisplay($var)

For $i = 1 To UBound($var) - 1
    For $n = 0 to UBound($list) - 1
        $look = ""
        $look = _ArraySearch($var, $list[$n])
        _ArrayDelete($var, $look)
    Next
Next

_ArrayDisplay($var)

_AD_Close()

That makes no sense at all. You're using a loop already to loop through something, and it's not the $var array. What you might want to be doing is this.

For $I = Ubound($var) - 1 to 0 Step - 1
    For $n = 0 to UBound($n) - 1
        If StringInStr($var[$I], $list[$n]) then
            _ArrayDelete($var, $I)
        EndIf
    Next
Next

Edit: Fixed the code so that it might actually work better

It works with the following fix. Change UBound($n) to UBound($list)

Final code for anyone else needing something like this.

#include <ad.au3>
#include <array.au3>

_AD_Open()

Global $list[3]

$list[0] = "Account Operators"
$list[1] = "Administrators"
$list[2] = "Backup Operators"

$var = _AD_GetObjectsInOU("", "(objectcategory=group)", 2)
_ArrayDisplay($var)

For $i = Ubound($var) - 1 to 0 Step - 1
    For $n = 0 to UBound($list) - 1
        If StringInStr($var[$i], $list[$n]) then
            _ArrayDelete($var, $i)
        EndIf
    Next
Next

_ArrayDisplay($var)

_AD_Close()

Thanks!

Yeah, sorry about that typo, missed that when I typed it in. Typing faster than I'm thinking, but at least now we got it working for you. :)
