Delete on Reboot

Hey Everyone -

I searched the forums for a bit looking for something that will delete a file automatically on next reboot and couldn't really find anything practical. Below is my solution for auto deleting a file, just figured I would share it with the community, enjoy!

Func _DeleteOnReboot ($sFile)
    $rtn = DllCall ("kernel32.dll", "int", "MoveFileEx", "str",'"' & $sFile & '"' , "str", Default, "int", 4) ;4 and default means delete on next reboot.
    If $rtn[0] = 0 Then
        Return 1 ;Error
    Else
        Return 0 ;Success
    EndIf
EndFunc

Dating a girl is just like writing software. Everything's going to work just fine in the testing lab (dating), but as soon as you have contract with a customer (marriage), then your program (life) is going to be facing new situations you never expected. You'll be forced to patch the code (admit you're wrong) and then the code (wife) will just end up all bloated and unmaintainable in the end.

Read up a bit more on the use of DllCall. The second parameter should be a NULL pointer, so:

DllCall ("kernel32.dll", "int", "MoveFileEx", "str",'"' & $sFile & '"' , "ptr", 0, "int", 4)

Thank you, this was my first attempt at using DllCall.

sandwichdoge,

Welcome to the AutoIt forums.

Bit I take you did not notice that the post above yours dates from 7 years ago? Please do not necro-post like this in future.
