MrMitchell
Like this works: FileWrite("C:\temp\myfile.dat:stream1", "test to stream1") ConsoleWrite(FileRead("C:\temp\myfile.dat:stream1")) FileWrite("C:\temp\myfile.dat:stream2", "test to stream2") ConsoleWrite(FileRead("C:\temp\myfile.dat:stream2")) Edit: Forgot code tags. MrMitchell
What legitimate reason makes you want to use ADSs?I'm curious what was the point in them in the first place?
jchd
M$ made ADSs available to support MacIntrash' HSF fork feature, hence any NTFS volume can serve MacIntoshes. In practice, ADS are mostly used in the virus vs. antivirus, trojan vs antitrojan, rootkit vs antirootkit wars. Many malicious dumbasses hide malicious code under vicious streams (undetected by 99.999% of users) and many antivirus software hide file hash or other clerical information in other streams... Legitimate productive uses are rare, very rare, just like the above OP post makes you guess. This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available).
