IniReadSection issues

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I have 2 quick questions for you:

1. If I use IniReadSection it won't find the first section (line 1) if it's the only section.

This returns an @error of 1

[section]
key1=value1
key2=value2

This works just fine:

<blank line>
[section]
key1=value1
key2=value2

Am I doing anything wrong?

2. If I use IniReadSection with a UTF8 txt file, some contents will come up garbeled, e.g. vietnamese characters.

Is the specification for INI files strictly set to ASCII characters? Or is there a special switch to set so IniReadSection will work with unicode characters? Right now I do a workaround by using _FileReadToArray and Stringsplit, but it is not a "good" solution... :unsure:

Thanks for you help.

Regards,Hannes
If you can't convince them, confuse them!
Hannes123,

- 1. It works fine for me when there is no leading blank line - are you sure your syntax is correct? :unsure:

- 2. This explains that:

"INI files don't support Unicode. Even though there are Unicode functions of the private profile functions, they end up just writing ANSI text to the INI file." :>

hi Hannes123,

Both your problems arise because Ini files generally, dont support Unicode, try encoding your Ini in ANSI or UTF-16.

@M23, if you save the Ini in UTF-8 format, you can duplicate Hannes123's issue#1

Hope this helps. :unsure:
