OCR for cyrillic.

Recommended Posts

As the title says I'm looking for an OCR udf/app(console preferably) that can read cyrillic characters. I've tried with MODI but it gave me alot of problems. I'm looking for something that is free ...

If there is some solution to this problem I would be glad

Depending on your needs I may have a code base which can do the job. In short, it relies not on glyph recognition but on bitmap matching and hence needs a learning phase to be instructed which character correspond to a given bitmap. If that doesn't sound too much for you, it could work very well. It's particularly suited for fixed size and fixed spacing but I use it daily for proportional fonts (like Arial). It may work with any Unicode glyph.

It's not yet a dedicated UDF as the code currently embeds complications specific to a unique need I have, but if you're interested I can first forward you more information about the principles it uses.
