Morthawt
Is it possible to have a messagebox pop up and then the script carry on doing things so that if the user pushes the button, it will exit the loop and remove some files and exit? I am running a command in command prompt, outputting the output to a file via >filename.txt and then checking the contents of that file for certain words. If that word exists everything is fine, but if it is not detected it will perform an operation and then continue the same check. While this is going on, I want a message box that can exit that loop and remove files and exit its self. Is that possible? I am very new to this but doing good so far. Thank you. Morthawt
I am a little confused.. is the gist of this that you do the message box in a function and then if you call the function and then another function, that both will run at the same time instead of waiting for input on the messagebox? Also I will be making this into an exe and sending it into an installer with the command prompt exe's I am using, so I will not have "Autoit" on those pc's because they will be remote computers that do not need to have a whole autoit install on them. Morthawt
I have a function to install something as a system service and start it. I have a function to perform an additional command needed to make the intended program function. Now the program I need run is running as system. Now I have a function that does a netstat looking for the right port AND that it contains "ESTABLISHED".. Part of this function needs to have an "if the text file does not contain "ESTABLISHED" then run this command.. all the while having a message box which if the button is pressed, will exit the loop and what it is doing and then start a new function to stop and uninstall the service etc. If that makes sense, I cannot paste the code unfortunately due to privacy requests who I am making this for. Morthawt
Will this still work if the user doesn't have AutoIt installed?I am worried about this too. From my as yet limited understanding of the code, that code requires the autoit system to be installed because that macro is the link to where the autoit exe is being ran from, I think.. I need this to work when it is just its own compiled exe running on a separate system that as never and will never see an autoit installation. guinness
It will work, because it's using the running EXE. Best way to know is to try it!! Have you tried it? Morthawt
Have a look at the link in my previous post, this will wait for the 2nd process to exit and return the button value, but then why not just use a MsgBox if you want to wait for it?Well I want the continual loop checking if netstat says that a connection on a certain port is no longer "ESTABLISHED" and to kick start the program's command again if it does get disconnected BUT having that static popup on the screen so that if they push "ok" it will exit that loop that is ongoing and start to close and remove the tools that were installed. So yes I need to wait for the user input but without interupting the loop that is performing important actions. Thanks, if I have to use a third party kind of thing like this added into my script I will, I just want to see if I can get it done without having another thing that needs adding. Morthawt
Yes >> Function & Example: _MsgBox(0, "", "") Func _MsgBox($iFlag, $sTitle, $sText, $iTimeout = 0) If $sTitle = "" Then $sTitle = @ScriptName EndIf If $iFlag = "" Or IsInt($iFlag) = 0 Then $iFlag = 0 EndIf Return Run(@AutoItExe & ' /AutoIt3ExecuteLine "MsgBox(' & $iFlag & ',''' & $sTitle & ''',''' & $sText & ''',''' & $iTimeout & ''')"') EndFunc ;==>_MsgBox How do I get the feedback from the button press? I made this test so far: Global $message = 0 message() Do If $message = 1 Then Run("notepad.exe") Until $message = 1 Func message() Return Run(@AutoItExe & ' /Autoit3executeline "$message = MsgBox(0,''ttt'',''Hello this is a test'')"') EndFunc ;==>message But it is not working. This is an alteration of a script that successfully brought up the msgbox AND ran notepad. Now instead of running notepad, I am making it wait for the button press just so that I get top grips with getting this new way of doing a msgbox to interact with my other goings on. Its useless if the click of the button's output cannot be processed due to being externaly run. Any pointers? Free and easy Autoit scripting video tutorials (plus more videos always coming!)
