List, read and remplace text in files

Recommended Posts

The topic title say everything

I need list all the files in a directory.

Then read all the files and remplace some words.

Then save the file with the same name, overwrite the original file.

#Include <File.au3>
#Include <Array.au3>

$sPath = "C:\Testing"

$Filelist=_FileListToArray($sPath, "*.txt", 1)
If @Error=1 Then
    MsgBox (0,"","No files found")
    Exit
EndIf

Global $file_arrays[$Filelist[0] + 1]

For $i = 1 To $Filelist[0]

_FileReadToArray($sPath & "\" & $Filelist[$i], $file_arrays[$i])

_ReplaceStringInFile($file_arrays[$i], "word1", "remplaced1")
_ReplaceStringInFile($file_arrays[$i], "word2", "remplaced2")
_ReplaceStringInFile($file_arrays[$i], "word3", "remplaced3")

_FileWriteFromArray($sPath & "\" & $Filelist[$i], $remplaced)

Next

I have missed something there because it's not working.

First _FileReadToArray reads a file into an array, it will not read it into a single element of an array the way you wrote it. Second, _ReplaceStringInFile will replace a string in a file, not in an array. If you want to read the whole file then you need to use FileRead with the array element as to where to read it to. Then use stringreplace to replace the words with your replacement in each element. You can then write it back to a file with FileWrite.

Also, I can't understand how you can use the function _ReplaceStringInFile 3 times and still are not able to spell the word replace correctly.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Auto Complete in SciTe?

Perhaps a simple typo? Although the e, m. and p keys are well separated so I'll go with my first guess.

Try this

#Include <File.au3>
#Include <Array.au3>

$sPath = "C:\Testing"
$_ReturnFilesOnly=1
$Filelist = _FileListToArray ( $sPath, "*.txt", $_ReturnFilesOnly )
If @Error Then Exit MsgBox ( 0, "", "No files found" )
$_CaseSensitive = 0
$_ALLOccurrences = 1

For $i = 1 To UBound ( $Filelist ) -1
    _ReplaceStringInFile ( $sPath & '\' & $Filelist[$i], "word1", "remplaced1", $_CaseSensitive, $_ALLOccurrences )
    _ReplaceStringInFile ( $sPath & '\' & $Filelist[$i], "word2", "remplaced2", $_CaseSensitive, $_ALLOccurrences )
    _ReplaceStringInFile ( $sPath & '\' & $Filelist[$i], "word3", "remplaced3", $_CaseSensitive, $_ALLOccurrences )
Next

Sounds plausible to me.

Thanks everyone

I have it done in the following way...

#Include <File.au3>
#Include <Array.au3>

$sPath = "C:\Testing"

$Filelist=_FileListToArray($sPath, "*.txt", 1)
If @Error=1 Then
    MsgBox (0,"","No files found")
    Exit
EndIf

For $i = 1 To $Filelist[0]

        $File1=FileOpen($sPath & "\" & $Filelist[$i], 0)
        $Text=FileRead($File1)
        $Replace=StringReplace($Text, "word1", "remplace1")
        FileClose($sPath & "\" & $Filelist[$i])

        $File2=FileOpen($sPath & "\" & $Filelist[$i], 2)
        FileWrite($sPath & "\" & $Filelist[$i], $Replace)
        FileClose($sPath & "\" & $Filelist[$i])
