Run Function help

Recommended Posts

Uhh, try using ShellExecute(). I'm using that function whenever I can't get a file to run... Though I don't completely understand the difference between the two (i.e., shellexecute and run).

it works!

thanks a lot!

Run is best when starting an executable, such as a .exe or .com Windows program. ShellExecute is used when you don't know what is being used to open a certain, non-executable, file type, such as a .txt or .log. ShellExecute will perform the default Open action on the file by it's extension if possible. It will also run executable programs just like Run will but with less information going back to the script calling it.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.
