For Server Machines

$DriveLetterStatus = DriveStatus( "V:\" )

If $DriveLetterStatus="INVALID" Then

$Map_Status=DriveMapAdd("V:", "\\"& @ComputerName & "\foldername")

ElseIf $DriveLetterStatus="READY" Then

DriveMapDel("V:")

$Map_Status=DriveMapAdd("V:", "\\"& @ComputerName & "\foldername")

EndIf

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but I am running the script using 'Run as Administrator' option. Also I tried by starting the command prompt with "Run as Administrator' option. in either case the script fails.

Thanks,

Nisar

Do you need to assign a variable to the DriveMapAdd function?

$DriveLetterStatus = DriveStatus( "V:\" )

If $DriveLetterStatus="INVALID" Then
DriveMapAdd("V:", "\\"& @ComputerName & "\foldername")
ElseIf $DriveLetterStatus="READY" Then
DriveMapDel("V:")
DriveMapAdd("V:", "\\"& @ComputerName & "\foldername")
EndIf

Does the code above work?

An alternative method to map the drive is:

Run("net use V: \\" & @ComputerName & "\foldername","",@SW_HIDE)

I tested this code with Win7 and it works.

#RequireAdmin

$DriveLetterStatus = DriveStatus("V:\")

If $DriveLetterStatus = "INVALID" Then
    $Map_Status = DriveMapAdd("V:", "\\" & @ComputerName & "\Share")
ElseIf $DriveLetterStatus = "READY" Then
    DriveMapDel("V:")
    $Map_Status = DriveMapAdd("V:", "\\" & @ComputerName & "\Share")
EndIf

MsgBox(0, '$DriveLetterStatus', $DriveLetterStatus)
MsgBox(0, '$Map_Status', $Map_Status)

If FileExists('v:\test.txt') Then
    ShellExecuteWait('v:\test.txt')
EndIf

If $Map_Status Then
    DriveMapDel("V:")
EndIf

If the script is run as user then you can see the mapped drive in explorer. If the script is run as admin then only the script has the privilege to access the mapped drive. Either option displays the test.txt for view.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I just now checked my code again, and found it to be working on Vista and Win7 only when it is run as user. I don't see the mapped network drive when I run as administrator. Do you possibly what would be the reason? It sounds a bit strange to me.

When you run your script as an Administrator, it's being run under that user's credentials so anything that gets mapped will get mapped for that user and not the user running the script.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
