Multiline Inputbox Scrolling

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I have created a window which simply has a multiline editbox. The data entered in it can be more than its length so the user may want to scroll it(vertically) during typing. So how to create a scrollbar in the window and associate the scrollbar with the edit box ?

I am new to GUI programming...it must be simple but its puzzling me...

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Shaarad,

Just create the edit with the appropriate styles and Windows does it for you: ;)

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#include <EditConstants.au3>

Example()

Func Example()

    Local $hGUI = GUICreate("Scrolling Edit")

    Local $hEdit = GUICtrlCreateEdit("Line " & 1 & @CRLF, 176, 32, 121, 97, BitOr($ES_AUTOVSCROLL, $WS_VSCROLL)) ; <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

    GUISetState()

    For $i = 2 To 15

        Send("{END}")

        GUICtrlSetData($hEdit, "Line " & $i  & @CRLF, 1)

        Sleep(500)

    Next

    While 1
        If GUIGetMsg() = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Then ExitLoop
    WEnd

EndFunc   ;==>Example

You can do the same thing for a horizontal scrollbar - using the appropriate styles of course.

All clear? :huh2:
