Shaarad
are the number of elements into which you want to cut the string random ? means 4 , 5 , 3 make any regular pattern or are they random ? BrewManNH
You could use stringsplit on the string and use as the separator the @TAB, if it's tab separated, as the character to split at. Run through the returned array and combine the words back together in the lengths you need. Shaarad
the last variable $line has the data what you exactly want. $string="This is a lengthy string I want to cut it into several smaller strings of different length" $line="" #Include <String.au3> $array=_StringExplode ($string," ",0) for $i=0 to 3 $line=$line & " " & $array[$i] Next msgbox (0,"",$line) $line=$line & @CR for $i=4 to 8 $line=$line & " " & $array[$i] Next msgbox (0,"",$line) $line=$line & @CR for $i=9 to 11 $line=$line & " " & $array[$i] Next msgbox (0,"",$line) $line=$line & @CR for $i=11 to 15 $line=$line & " " & $array[$i] Next msgbox (0,"",$line) $line=$line & @CR for $i=16 to 16 $line=$line & " " & $array[$i] Next msgbox (0,"",$line) Edited June 9, 2011 by Shaarad Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt...
