Testing an autoit program with command line args

Hi guys i hope you are well and can help.

Im a bit of a newbie so sorry in advance for this relatively easy post.

I have the following code in SciTE which I wish to test. The file is called "test.au3"

If $CmdLine[0] = 0 Then
    MsgBox(64, "Result", "No parameter was entered!")
    Exit
EndIf
MsgBox(64, "Entry", $CmdLine[1])

Do I have to open up a command line window and run:

test.au3 <parameter>

or

can I run it from Scite?

I know I can click on F5 and the script will execute, but that does not allow me to input the required parameter.

Is there something in Scite that will allow me to input the parameter as part of testing?

Just compile it and run from any cmd prompt.

So, basically, you cant input the parameter within Scite itself, it has to be done from the cmd prompt?

In SciTE go to View -> Parameters or simply press Shift+F8 to set up to 4 parameters.

I didn't know it myself for a very, very long time!

One day I said to myself: AutoIt is such a smart tool, there must be a way to set parameters.

I can't recall if I found it by playing around or by searching the forum (a hit would be this ).

Creating a Batch file just to pass a single commandline parameter for testing is now a thing of the past. Thanks water for pointing out again.

Maybe so, but I was looking for a way to do it in SciTE just this past week and couldn't find how to do it. So, thank you very much for pointing that out. No more opening a cmd prompt and dragging the file into it just to make sure the command line arguments are right again.
